well over half a million hits per day. Maintained and scaled
the advertising facilties, <a

the first META tags to the site (view the source),

JAN 2002: I use Mozilla 0.97 as my web browser and mail
client for secure IMAP4 with S/MIME email. Tabbed browsing is great!

FEB 2004: It's been two years since I've updated things.
We have new management: a 1.5 year old boy, he's wonderful.
I am volunteering some of my time at <a

work environment & commute feel familiar, it must be those office
cubes...I enjoyed working there despite it's
fall to a lower state of equilibrium. Was SGI the inverse twin to
Netscape?

[SGI:NSCP :: HW:SW :: stock symbol delisted:aquired]

2011: I am Kaazing with Yuan and
Brad advancing HTML5 websockets (it feels like Netscape in many ways),
IT operations, and webmastering.

I still want to pick up the phone at work and say "Netscape. This is
Jamie Quick." I've never been at a job longer than the three years I
spent at Netscape and probably won't be, ever. I started out in Pro
Serv in Chicago and moved on to the World Wide Professional Services
in Mountain View. And then it was Australia, India, Japan, France,
England, and Germany. Soon, it was AOL, and even though they still had
the Netscape logo on my paycheck, after my brother was killed in May
of 2000, it was hard just to go on with anything. But since then
Hiroko and I got married, moved to LA, bought a house, and had two
kids. I still love consulting. And I went back to teaching (part time)
about four years ago . . . it's still a blast. I'm jquick at gmail dot
com, and I'm over on Linked In, too, if you want to get back in touch.

May, 2011: Back in the Bay area, at Cisco (consulting), and just received an appointment as a
Visiting Scholar in UC Berkeley's Science Technology and Society Center.

9/96 - 10/98

I was in the Sydney, Australia office of Netscape from 1996 til late
1998.

I sacrificed valuable vesting time and stock price to
save my soul from burning at AOL.

Went to Software.com for a few years. Merged with
Phone.com to become Openwave.

Next was AirFlash. Did the whole start-up thing all over again
with all the old Netscape people. We merged with Webraska and got
raped.

Then came BEA.

April 2003, update:
Still at BEA. Going well. Anyone
doing anything out there that is changing the world?

January 2004, update:
BEA still. Same old, same old. No complaints.

Feb 2006, update:
Now at a new startup changing the Java world: Azul Systems.
Based in London. Missing the Sydney warmth.

March 2007, update:
Still at Azul. Having quite a bit of fun with this one actually.

April 2008, update:
Same old, same old Azul. Would quite fancy a new startup though....

October 2008, update:
World is falling apart, recession, doom and gloom. Breeds innovation? Bloody hope so.

December 2009, update:
Woot! Start a new gig in January. A new exciting startup. Stay tuned.

January 2010, update:
Kaazing time!

April 2011, update:
Thinking it might be time to head back home to Australia. London has been fun, Europe
great to see. But I need some full-time sun.
