April 13, 1998 - September 28, 2001

Netscape was the only workplace in my life where I felt at home from
Day 1 on the job (Technical Support). What made Netscape special for
me was the collection of wonderful, bright, creative people who
inhabited the place. I also spent a great year (April 2000-April
2001) as a Netcape Dedicated ESAM based in VG5&6 at Apple Computer,
helping the "mac.com" (now ".Mac" now MobileMe) folks roll out IMAP
email to the masses.

AOL laid me off on September 28, 2001, and I started with Sun
Microsystems in the same job (ESAM) on October 8, 2001.

I resigned from Sun Microsystems and left on April 8, 2005. I started
at VeriSign as a Global Deployment Manager on April 18, 2005. VeriSign
had a reorg that laid off about 9.6% of its staff worldwide in
February 2007. My position was eliminated, and my last day
there was February 16, 2007. I will let you know where I land (always
on my feet). Scratch off one more life....

I started my own company, Cheshire Cat Photo, LLC in early March 2007.
We are "Your Guide to California's Wonderland™" and specialize in
digital stock photography of California. Our customers are
photoeditors who need stock photos of California and also customers
who would like to buy prints or merchandise decorated with photographs
of California. See us on the Web at http://www.cheshirecatphoto.com or
http://www.cCatPhoto.com for short. Email is info (at)
cheshirecatphoto.com and phone is

`All right,' said the Cat; and this time it vanished quite slowly,
beginning with the end of the tail, and ending with the grin, which
remained some time after the rest of it had gone.

But things are different now with Sun and AOL in the picture. Time to

Update - 6/2010

How many start-ups does it take before you realize that there will never be another NSCP?
I guess 4-ish. ;)

working in security @ Cisco... big company.... big company bennies... big company
issues... not bad so far.

personal email is sean.fraz -at- gmail.

Update - 3/2007

Another startup (re-start actually) called Knownow. Working for Todd Rulon-Miller with a
few ex-NSCP and ex-LDCL and ex-EPNY folks. I never.. ever learn. :)

still doing music - my band Puppet Show just released our 2nd CD. we are here - http://
www.puppetshow.com. I need to sell lots of these so i can stop doing the serial start-up
thing.

email is sean -at- knownow.com

Update - 2/2004

after almost 4 years I am leaving Opsware (ex... Loudcloud) to go to
Voltage Security, a small start-up in Palo Alto (no.. i haven't
learned my lesson). They have some very cool products built on even
cooler technology (http://www.voltage.com)

new email is "sean@voltage.com"... drop a note and say "hey!"

l8er.

was floating around NSCP from 5/96 until 3/00.

I worked in 1) Inside sales (Mountain View, CA), 2) Channel Sales
(Atlanta, GA) & 3) Direct sales (Bethesda, MD).

Was certainly a wild ride and an experience that I wouldn't trade for
anything. We represented all that was right and wrong with the
Internet software industry. Netscape ran at such a high rate of speed
that it couldn't turn when faced with the wall. I'm sure that,
hindsight being what it is, we could've done lots of things
differently but boy howdy did we have fun.

I have never had so much to drink in my life. ;)

working with many ex-NSCP folks over @ Loudcloud and having a blast
(although keeping the drinking to a minimum). To all my friends....
keep in touch - sean@loudcloud.com

c-ya.

I joined Netscape the 1st of November 2000, hired by Beth Epperson and
Clayton Lewis to work remotely from Paris (France) after Pierre
Saslawsky made a referral about me after a CSS WG meeting in Oslo
(Norway). I spent those three years working on Composer and the CSS
Engine. I represented Netscape/AOL in the CSS Working Group of the
World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
I was laid off by AOL with the remains of Netscape the 15th of
July 2003.

I spent three extraordinary years at Netscape. I met dozens of great
people, I was really a like a young student in front of an army of
gurus. I tried to bring my modest contribution to Mozilla, and I will
continue working on it. I will make a standalone Composer, integrated
into the new Mozilla roadmap.

I'll miss all the people.

I loved Netscape, I hated AOL. Really.

I am now starting my

Check out the cool thing we are working

I started my
own company to keep working on Composer in october 2003 and almost
7 years later, we're still here! After Nvu, Etna (an XML wysiwyg
editor) and a lot of work for 3rd-parties, we're now backed by an
investor and work on BlueGriffon.

The experience at Netscape was a great one, a huge "E" ticket that
will always be remembered because of smart people and their deep
passion regarding making a huge impact in the world.

As of April 2002 i-drive.com, my post Netscape employer, was no
more. Twas another three year rollercoaster ride for sure. Met and
worked with even more smart people, some old, some new, with an
enormous amount of heart.

I have started a consulting business, GML Consulting, while I am
also giving it a go writing some iPhone/iPad apps, and perhaps Android
too, while looking for a new challenge.

My last day with Netscape / AOL / AOL Time Warner was Mon, Nov 26,
2001, one day before my 6th anniversary with Netscape. I was in IS
and helped manage the Oracle Financials, PeopleSoft HR, Excalibur
Sales Force Automation, iPlanet systems, iCal, BuyerXpert, etc.

I had a great run at a great company. I'm sure my experiences at
Netscape will be unmatched through the rest of my career. The people
I worked with were amazing.

I'm currently married, living in SF with my wife and daughter.

Update (Aug., 2006): I quit a job at Williams-Sonoma, Inc. about a
year ago and started doing IT contracting work as VanderWall Group,
Inc. I'm currently helping an industrial waste management company
roll-out a sales force automation tool and an operational application
to handle dispatching job orders to payroll and billing. I'm working
out of my house in S.F., and have a very flexible schedule. Drop me a
note at bill@vanderwall.com if you want to have lunch or coffee in the
city sometime.

PS - I miss Netscape. I drove my wife past the old campus this past
weekend and reminisced about the good ol' days.

Update: (Aug, 2007): Just started working at Riverbed in SF last
week as Director of IT Business Applications.

Update: (March, 2010): Working at Scientific Learning Corporation
as Sr. Director of IT since July, 2009.

Thanks,
Bill V.

Hi everyone! I started at Netscape in '97 as an ESAM at Bear Stearns &
Co.(The sometimes cool but mostly "Uh-oh, it's Bear on the phone"
account). I was then promoted to SE in the NY Metro region. Then AOL
came, I left. (Not by choice)

Anyway, I then became an SE/Architect at Sun Microsystems specializing
in Java System (previously known as SunONE, iPlanet,
Netscape...) software & interoperability solutions. But now Sun =
Oracle, and I'm a student at Columbia University. I'm pursuing a
